The Projects, Plasma and Machine Learning (P2ML) research group, established in December 2011, specializes in applied engineering, industrial sustainability, emerging technologies, and educational innovation. Its research activities are structured around three main complementary lines of investigation:
- Atmospheric pressure cold plasma applications
- Functional plasma-polymerized coatings: anti-friction, promotion of wear and adhesion, anti-biofilm, pro-biofilm, etc.
- Use of low-temperature plasma for decontamination and disinfection treatments in the food industry (food, devices, surfaces, packaging) and medical applications.
- Study and characterization of reactive chemical species generated during plasma-activated water (PAW) production and their applications.
- Data Science
- Development of advanced analytics tools including Machine Learning, Business Intelligence, Big Data processing, Internet of Things (IoT), Quantum Computing, Text Mining, and Natural Language Processing (NLP) applied to engineering, environmental analysis, predictive modeling, process optimization, and decision support systems.
- Modeling, Analysis, and Environmental Optimization of Industrial Processes
- Environmental modeling and simulation, life cycle assessment, contaminant characterization (air, water, soil), pollution prevention and control strategies, resource efficiency optimization, and sustainability strategies for industrial operations.
We are also interested in Educational Innovation in Project Management:
- Development of data-driven applications in educational environments (Educational Data Mining, Learning Analytics) and tools for competence assessment in Higher Education Project Management training.
